What is marriage?
11. May 2012 by Pastor.
In October of 2004 Candidate Obama stated in a
On May 9, 2012 President Obama declared his unequivocal support of gay marriage after his opinion of gay marriage evolved from what it had been in 2004.
Is marriage a covenant before God made by a man and a woman as our president believed in 2004, or is marriage a right of the state for equality as our president believes today?
Do people who live together out of marriage fall under the same sin as those who live in a gay relationship?

Do you lose faith in God or the mission?
2. May 2012 by Pastor.
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits.”Matthew 7:15-16

A person may question, feel betrayed, and let down by the politics or business of the church. A person may feel that what a church is teaching is improper or deviant from Scripture. But is this losing faith in God or losing faith in how as people we are falling short in the mission that our Lord has placed before us?
If one truly believes in the love of God as a gift given to them, how do they then turn to say that God’s love was all a lie and there is no God? Where is the falling off point? Do they lose faith in God or do they lose faith in how people are fulfilling the mission of the Church?

Do all dogs go to heaven?
25. April 2012 by Pastor.
In an old Twilight Zone the story was told of an old man and his dog, both died while out coon hunting one night. At the end of the story the old man found his way to heaven where St. Peter welcomed him and his dog into heaven. The St. Peter character said something like heaven was big enough for everyone even dogs.
We know in Genesis One that animals are part of God’s creation that He said was very good prior to man corrupting all of God’s creation with sin. Animals though unlike man did not have the Spirit of life blown into them so they are different than man who was made with a body and spirit. At death then we know that animals do not go to heaven, but what about the resurrection? When God restores His creation to the perfection that it was prior to man’s sin what will be the role of animals?

Expectation and Hope: another year of baseball
4. April 2012 by Pastor.
http://www.komu.com/news/cardinals-announce-2012-opening-day-roster-and-lineup/
With opening day for the Cardinals upon us Redbird fans wait in expectation for another exciting year of baseball, with all its ups and downs. We hope that our ball team can pull through another year and make it the famed 12 World Series wins in 2012.
With hopes and expectations born anew as with every new ball season, how is this hope and expecation of a worldly sense different from the hopes and expecations we know through Scriptures? Are they the same or are the different?
Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us. On Him we have set our hope that He will deliver us again.
2 Corinthians 1:9-10
What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.
Philippians 1:18-20

Oh, Canada?
27. March 2012 by Pastor.
In Genesis chapters 18 and 19 we read about God’s judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah. In multiple other Scripture readings God’s Word condemns sexual imorality: Hebrews 13:4; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 18; Romans 1:24-27; Matthew 5:28; and Matthew 15:19.
Our neighbor to our north, a country that we would think of like ourselves being a Christian country has now legalized prostitution, as long as the acts are not committed or solicited in a public place. Canada also has made the act of preaching against the sin of homosexuality a jailable offense. The Canadian goverment now mandates that private religious schools and homeschoolers be taught a full lesson plan that includes a host of non-Biblical beliefs. Is Canada a Christian nation and how far behind Canada are we?
And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, [Christ] has now reconciled in His body of flesh by His death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before Him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister. Colossians 1:21-23
